Chinese supercomputer "Tyanhe-2" set a world record in power and for the fourth time in a row topped the specialized rating "Top 500" of the most powerful computing systems in the world, reported Xinhua and TASS.
Second ranked American "Titan". The ranking is done twice a year and includes the 500 most powerful computer in the world.
During the test system "Tyanhe-2" has reached a speed of 33.86 petaflops (quadrillion floating point operations per second).
The supercomputer is the work of specialists from the University of defense science and technology to the People's Liberation Army of China in the city. Changsha (Hunan Province, central China). Speed "Titan", created by the National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, under the same test is 17.59 petaflops. Third is the US supercomputer "Sequoia" power 17.17 petaflops.
"Top-500" / TOP500 / is an international project within which to conduct rating and description of the 500 most powerful computer systems in the world. It started in 1993. Within that twice a year - in June and in November - is published current ranking of supercomputers in the world. According to the creators of the "Top 500" ranking this year decreased the number of US supercomputers are now 231, while 233 were in June, and a year ago - 265.
