Irdeto new study shows that Internet piracy in Russia remains quite high compared to other countries and that consumers there simply do not think that illegal downloading stuff from the net affect the revenue of the entertainment business.
87% of respondents Russians do not consider sharing of pirated video content is illegal, while 66 percent are completely OK with the idea that such content can be removed or stream without pay. These responses are in sharp contrast to perceptions in other regions of the world such as Asia and South America, where 52 percent of respondents said they would stop to watch pirated content, once they realize that this leads to financial losses for companies. Russian authorities have launched a major campaign to combat piracy in 2015, the laws provide for up to 72 hours websites accused of hosting such content to abolish.
